Do you know the way to San Jose?

Honeymoons anyone??

What is a honeymoon?

American Heritage Dictionary defines it as follows:

hon‧ey‧moon  [huhn-ee-moon] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun
1. a vacation or trip taken by a newly married couple.
2. the month or so following a marriage.
3. any period of blissful harmony: Their entire 60 years of marriage was one long honeymoon.
4. any new relationship characterized by an initial period of harmony and goodwill: The honeymoon between Congress and the new president was over.
–verb (used without object)
5. to spend one's honeymoon (usually fol. by in or at).
[Origin: 1540–50; honey + moon]

So where to go?

Well- we didn't know where to go.

We wanted to go to Europe-since I visited last spring I'm in love with everything about it...But let's face it-its freezing in Jan.

So I wanted somewhere warm. But I didn't want to go somewhere with tons of gawking tourist, I hate that. And we want to save up for Europe, to hopefully get there this summer...So I started asking around. I wanted somewhere fresh and hip.

My cousin Jim, said something about Austin- and I have always wanted to go there...One of the indie music meccas of the world. So he looked into it more for me. He heard about this cool place called the Hotel San Jose.
Link

I'm in love. It's perfect.

Very simple and modern but has Texas charm. An 'ultra hip urban bungalow-style hotel.' Sounds good to me. And you can rent a manual Remington Rand typewriter, Polaroid cameras, I will be blogging old school- and scanning them in when I get home. You can also rent music, movies and old fashion bikes from the hotel. How cool is that?

And they have a ubber cool courtyard lounge that has cheese trays (Joel is obsessed with cheese lately- how perfect) with wine and beer! I love it!! They also host Rock n' Reels: They have bands play on Thursday nights in the parking lots then the band picks a movie and they show a movie hour later...Bring your own chair and rock out dude...How neat. They even have a coffee shop and art gallery.

I might just move into this place forever!!!

I can't wait to be honeymooning...

smiles on the inside-glow on the outside...

I, I'm so in love with you
Whatever you want to do
Is all right with me
'Cause you make me feel so brand new
And I want to spend my life with you

Since, since we've been together
Loving you forever
Is what I need
Let me be the one you come running to
I'll never be untrue

Let's, let's stay together
Lovin' you whether, whether
Times are good or bad, happy or sad

Whether times are good or bad, happy or sad

Why, why some people break up
Then turn around and make up
I just can't see
You'd never do that to me (would you, baby)
Staying around you is all I see
(Here's what I want us to do)

(repeat to fade):
Let's, we oughta stay together
Loving you whether, whether
Times are good or bad, happy or sad

this one goes out to my ladies...

today i found myself in an all to familiar place.

a place i have actually dreamt of.

a place where handbags were involved in these dreams can actually become reality for a poor girl like me.

a place some, cough- molly and jimmy- hear me speak of and crindge.

a place i have gone probably one to many times, but not enough to keep me from returning every other tuesday.

i simply call it 'my purse guy or purse day.'

it is scribbled in my planner and i set my phone to remind me on special weeks.

this week i had birthday money to blow- so i did both of the above mentioned things.

my 'purse guy' can get me anything i want.

he goes to ny and hongkong regularly and works on trades.

which was great when i worked for lancome...i traded many things to get new bags and sunglasses.

my past obsession was prada.

i have 5 prada bags (four black and one hot pink) and love them all.

i have 1 fendi and marc jacobs (this is not counting the coach i gave to my mom...that my sister took and some punk stole from her.)

and pairs of gucci, chanel and dolce and gabbana sunglasses.

anyways today i went on a mission and i found it.

a glorious teal chloe' paddington bag.

he threw in a pair of white and pink dior glasses- for my birthday...

he might be a somewhat scary man- who never fails to say you can't pay in lapdances everytime...

but i can't resist the thrill of searching for a new desinger imposter handbag in the heaps of bags in his livingroom- and finding that perfect one.

the rules are simple there, if you are smart enough to learn them...

1. if you are halfway interested in something- grab it and don't let go...until you do have enough time to decide.
2. cash is king--unless you are with me and promise not to write bad checks
3. don't take the first price he tells you...its probably off a few hundred dollars...he barters- don't play dumb or be dumb and pay $300.
4. don't take him up on the lapdance... no matter how hard you are up for a purse.
5. if you really want it- be quiet...he will give it to you.
6. go back and see him- he always remembers you and gives you a deal...sometimes free things. (3 pairs of earings, 2 pairs of sunglasses and a purse...if he loves you)
7. don't park in the drive way you will get parked in by the lunch ladies craze- they are nuts and won't move their cars.

basically, its a goodtime and always a good story.

be strong and go for the gold-
or black purse its always classy.

friday night and the lights are low...

You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the dancing queen

Friday night and the lights are low
Looking out for the place to go
Where they play the right music, getting in the swing

You come in to look for a king
Anybody could be that guy
Night is young and the music’s high

With a bit of rock music, everything is fine
You’re in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance...

You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing queen, feel the beat from the tambourine

You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the dancing queen

You’re a teaser, you turn ’em on
Leave them burning and then you’re gone

Looking out for another, anyone will do
You’re in the mood for a dance

And when you get the chance...

You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen

Dancing queen, feel the beat from the tambourine

You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life

See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the dancing queen

9/11 at the Hall of Justice

today everyone in our country gathered to remember what happened five years ago today-

the day that changed my life when i was but a senior in high school-the day i thought forsure the world was ending- but life went on and things have changed since that day in september.

i can't help but choke up and cry watching the news this morning and tonight.

but today i had other things on my mind too.

today i headed to the hall of justice downtown to serve my duty as an American on my second day of jury duty.

last monday i reported to get a group and be told to return in a week...there was 210 or some of us that showed up that day. i guess that they were trying to find enough jurors for the whole month or something.

so that is what i did. and here is what i saw as juror number 299/23

what does one wear to jury duty you might ask?

well the juror's guide "serving on a jury...a handbook for nebraska jurors" suggests wearing comfortable clothing which reflects the seriousness of jury services.

i chose to wear a nice black chasmire quarter length sweater with black pants with white pin stripes.
what others wore was quiet entertaining. some showed up in suits and dresses, while others wore shorts and flipflops.

the jurors room was like a lecture hall with a retro flare. the chairs where a blue/red irradesent color that were a overy stuffed to be impossibly uncomfortable with only half of a back- so kiss your lumbar support goodbye.

as i scanned the room i knoticed mostly 40 somethings in the room...most of them with nothing to read or do when we are not needed...which is hours when added up. not smart buddies. i being the smart girl that i am brought a new book- the devil wears prada-that i bought this summer and intened on reading- but never started after i got a job...go figure.

anyways back to the fun-the walls of the jury hall were lined with framed pictures of past judges-all men except of one lovely lady.

the room was pretty quiet except the beeping of the metal detector in the hall and quiet whispers of bored jurors. we sat there for about an hour before they split us into two new groups and sent us with new numbers (mine 23) to two court rooms (15 on the 3rd floor for me)...alot of numbers i know...are you still following?

so i then go to floor number three and am seated by a loud breathing man who smelled of booze. that was a blast for the next 2 hours of examination by a slow taking state prosecuter. he told us that it was a criminal case and that happens to be a homicide that took place with a baseball bat.

great, just great....well atleast it wouldn't be a boring case i think to myself. he then introduces the defense team and that the defendant that is beind sued by the state of nebraska is actually sitting there with his attorney. he looked like a normal 30 year old man. he looked like a nice guy. this was very interesting...

i didnt know what to think. i knew that he was innocent until proven gulity...but this is not something i have had to face before. there were now 39 jurors and we were being questions to figure out which 13 of us are the best for thier case. so we sat there and they asked us if we were related to any police officers, judges or lawyers. they also asked us if we had any moral issues with being fair- according to our past experiences and they proceeded to list off about 15 more questions- where some of the jurors felt the need to belt of any random thing that they felt was half way relevent and further waster our time.

it was about 11:20 when i felt like i was going to die because i had to pee so bad. before we started to be questioned by the defendant- the honorable judge let us take a two hour recess for lunch. thank god! a recess...i didnt want to loose my spot in the parking garage or have to drive in lunch traffic- so i opted to walk down in the cold sunless weather to get a slice of chicken and tomatoe pizza and a cherry coke. i then tryed to act like eating alone didnt bother me- by reading my book but i totally hate eating alone and hurried right along. i then headed to the coffee house to kill another hour reading.

i then high steped it up back to the hall of justice to have more questions asked- that i had no response to-unless it was a yes or no question about judgement. other then that i dont know anyone of importance when it comes to the courts and i dont have any major life experiences with the court that involve further discussions.

at the end of the questions they then went back and forth with each other and eliminate 26 of us. it took about an hour and in the end-- they didn't pick me. 8 hours later and they told me not to feel bad- i just wasn't thier type.

end of day thoughts: i think i broke my butt bone sitting in the most uncomfortable chair known in man kind. and i got paid $35-$8 for parking and $1.81 for coffee and -$6 for lunch and driving about 20 miles-so all in all- i made about $10 to serve my civil duties.

but i did get to page 67 in my book and got a recess again. that was neat.

if love were easy it wouldn't be love...

after talking with a dear friend who needed advice on relationships i made myself think...
how did i come upon this wealth of knowledge?
is it from the divorces i have lived through and around?
why do i feel like an expert?
just because i took some relationship classes in college? that doesn't make me an expert...maybe a little smarter than the average person, but no expert.
am i fooling myself?

then it came spilling out of my swiftly typing fingers:

"spending the rest of your life with someone is as scary as hell. we can't deal with ourselves half of the time, how in the world can we live with someone else forever? but, someday you will just look at him and think-how can i not live the rest of my life with this man? no one else will compare to him. no matter how new or exciting someone else is-you know in the back of your mind that they wont treat you as well as he has treated you. times change people-it is inevitable. but the way you treat each other is a choice. if love was easy, it wouldn't be love, would it?"

then i thought- it's true.

when it is meant to be- you will find him.
the one you have prayed that would wait for you.
the one you made lists about before you even knew them.
the one who can look into your eyes and see through your layers of make-up and still love you.
the one will wait for you at the end of the aisle and smile.
because you will be his wife.
you will always be his lady-but being his wife makes you his permanent lady.
noon else can have you.
and if that scares you- then you shouldn't be.

but i'm not scared.
it is the one thing i have been counting down to since the day i decided to pray for my future husband.
i made a list of things that he would be and love to do when i was in high school this is what it said:

gentle and kind
love to play
have happy meal picnics
dance in the rain
snuggle bunny
sing and play me music
be as pure as i am
funny
smart
warrior
love kids
love jesus
love me.

i know it is him.
im glad.
the hardest part is finding him...

I hate sprint.

they are trying to ruin my life.
i snap photos and hit send.
should be easy right?
no!
they want to be funny and send the wrong photo.
how embarrassing!!
i say happy corn dog day and it sends a picture of pancakes and bacon!!
im not kidding.
what jerks.

that is not the end of this story...

i called sprint and they said to take it in and have them look at it and if they couldn't fix it they would give me a new phone.

i take it in and they make me leave it there for a hour. how can they call me when it is done if i dont have a phone? and my phone is my watch- so i have no watch to know when an hour is up...because im not going to wait around.

i hate my life.

so i got to tjmaxx and kill sometime...

meanwhile finding some wonderful finds. a pair of pencil capris with a panda bear scene painted on the back pocket and a short sleve zip up hooded sweatshirt with a sparrow bejeweled on the back. SCORE.

at least the day was not in vain.

so i get back to sprint and they say- oh there is a known problem with these new phones and there is not a software up date yet. alls that we can do is totally erase everything on your phone and hope it goes away.

im like that is ridiculous! i have like 300 contacts on there im not putting them all in by hand. call me when the update arrives.

until then you will get wackado picture mail.

im sorry sprint sucks.

Tuesday, September 05, 2006

You have new Picture Mail!

210 people and they only need 30 jurors. Oh what fun. I plan on reading the devil wears prada and chating with my new pals here. ps sprint is a piece of crap and sends the wrong photos some times so sorry if this isnt a picture of my jurors badge and book.

oh to be a senior in high school again...

the pain.
the suffering.
the zits.
the triangle tater tots.
the busy work-homework.
the standardized tests.
'the lunch table'- you know the one with the 'cool kids'
the homeroom desk next to 'smelly boy.'
the dances of awkwardness.
the sucky curfews that must be broken.

the best part...getting out of there...
and senior pictures- when actually realize you are almost done.

it was a rainy old saturday- but we got it done.
Congrats Kyle Schlegelmilch and Jordan Michael- Millard North Seniors- Best Friends for life
