dear friends...this is probably the most important blog i have ever written...

tonight i was moved at the art justice music tour.
moved to sing.
moved to cry.
moved to act.

there are a lot of crummy things going on in our world these days. i have mentioned before how joel and i had been attending a small group at church...anyways we read a book called the red letters. it really shook our whole group to the core. we had to switch gears to start this 'we are better together' deal which is good too- but we never finished up this last subject. my heart has been stuck on these kids in africa that are dying of hiv/aids everyday. i wont get into the numbers now because its late but i have been moved... moved to step out and help even if its small to begin.

its something that if we all did- that would be huge.

joel and i decided to start sponsoring a child through food for the hungry.
her name is uwimpayne vashti and she is 9 years old.
she lives in rwanda with her parents and 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
her favorite subject in school is music.
and she has a big ol' smile and that is why i picked her from the pile of pictures on the table tonight.

i will post more about her i'm sure- but i just wanted to encourage anyone who is moved to learn more to visit their website.

i truly feel that we are put her to help others and im excited to be able to help uwipayne. what is really cool is that these talented, oh so amazingly talented, musicians go around getting a whole village sponsored and then go to visit these kids.

the other cause they support is called international justice mission...now this is what was new to me tonight and broke me. we are so lucky to live here in the states and do not have to worry about being sold into slavery...but other girls, on the other side of the globe are being sold and traded into slavery everyday. these stories will break your heart. i believe everyone deserves justice and so does this organization started by lawyers and advocates for justice.

check out these causes if you get a chance. i know they will change your life if you open your heart to them.
also check out this song by brandon heath- i have been humming it for weeks...

and here are the lyrics to one of my all time favorite songs that is posted above. i saw charlie peacock, the guy who wrote, it sing it tonight and i have re-fallen in love with it.

in the light

I keep trying to find a life
On my own, apart from you
I am the king of excuses
Ive got one for every selfish thing I do

Whats going on inside of me?
I despise my own behavior
This only serves to confirm my suspicions
That Im still a man in need of a savior

I wanna be in the light
As you are in the light
I wanna shine like the stars in the heavens
Oh, lord be my light and be my salvation
Cause all I want is to be in the light
All I want is to be in the light

thanks-
d
