pixie bobcat kitten...

funny story: we have been thinking about getting a puppy but i keep saying i wish there were bigger cats that acted more like dogs but took care of themselves like cats.
well i have been seeing ads in the owh for pixie bobcat kittens for sale.
i googled them today and am in love.
they are just what i wanted.
basically a bigger cat that acts more like a dog with little nubbin tails, just like the cats we saw in japan.
you can take them for walks, they fetch balls, and are loyal like dogs.
bad news these little cuties are expensive.
i guess thats what you get when you get a pet that is as close to a liger as possible.
i still might call tomorrow and see how much they are selling them for here.
if we can't get one to be penny lanes playmate i think joel should at least name his new band pixie bobcat kitten...i think that name is made for rocking!

red velvet cheesecake

my dad came up from oklahoma on friday with goodies in hand.
a red velvet cheescake with cream cheese frosting!
that's right folks...my favorite cupcake in cheesecake form and it was delicious!
thanks daddio!

traveling gal...

next month i will be headed back to the beautiful emory conference center in atlanta georgia for more advance public affairs training.
i cant wait to meet up with all my red cross buddies from around the u.s. and learn more about how to rock for the red cross on the disaster side (now that i'm not on the blood side anymore.)

and then in march i'm going to go to las vegas with linsey and kathy!
we are staying at the newly remodeled treasure island and i cant wait!
savvy?
more to come!

fire...

today i went on my first fire call at work.
i go to help support media interviews.
of course by the time i got to the apartments, after getting lost, the media had come and gone but it was a good learning experience.
i got to see what we do first hand to help support the immediate needs of people that have lost everything.
for those of you that don't know whenever there is a home or apartment fire the fire department calls us and we round up our disaster action team (all volunteers) and go to help serve the families in need.
we help with food, clothing, shelter and even financial support if it's needed. we also pass out comfort kits and help them in what steps to take next and canteen snacks and drinks for the emergency workers.
it is pretty neat.
i got to go with two of our volunteers who access damage to see the apartment that was on fire, red cross hard hat and all.
fires are a scary thing.
its even scarier up close.
i appreciate our volunteers that go to help fire clients everyday, rain or shine. night or day. freezing or hot. 24-7 if your family has a fire we will be there to help...that is pretty cool.
thanks volunteers!

penny plays foosball

so i decided my new years resolution is to make penny lane famous on the interwebs this year.
she does the darnedest things and now you will get to see them.
my mom gave joel this mini fooseball table for christmas and we often hear penny playing it down in the basement.
after a few attempts i finally got this video.
enjoy.

apples, mapples and macbook wheels oh my!

happy new year!

last night we got a room at the new embassy suites and had some fun.
played some wii, honked our party horns and rang in the new year with good friends!
thanks for the fun guys.

we are family...

(me and margie)
last week i got to see a lot of schlegs.
heidi and tom brought the kids to omaha earlier in the week and we got to have dinner with them while the kids harassed/feel in love with joel.

we also celebrated christmas mexican style (feliz navidad) with them later last week on christmas eve.
flan, pinata, burritos and all!
aren't ben and margie the cutest?
